Celebrating Community Spirit
Over a number of years, the Jambin State School Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) has exemplified community spirit, dedication, and innovation. Through a series of impactful events and initiatives, they've not only raised funds but also fostered a stronger, more connected community.
Bullarama - A Community Celebration Like No Other
In 2019, the Jambin State School P&C hosted the very first Bullarama at the Jambin Recreation Grounds - and it was a roaring success! With over 1,300 people attending, the event brought together the thrill of bull riding with market stalls, food vendors, live music, and a licensed bar.
The response from the community was incredible, and we were honoured to be named 2019 Banana Shire Community Event of the Year.
The success of Bullarama continued in 2020, with National Rodeo Association-affiliated competitions and riders from across Queensland joining in. The funds raised from both events helped support school camps, excursions, and vital classroom resources for Jambin State School students.
Pub in the Paddock - A Night for Mateship and Mental Health
In July 2023, recognising the importance of rural mental health, the Jambin P&C hosted "Pub in the Paddock - Men's Night" at the Starbar on Earlsfield Pit Road, Argoon.
This special event brought together close to 150 rural men for an evening of live music, beer tasting, auctions, a photo competition - and, most importantly, open and honest conversation about mental health.
With the incredible support of Mary O'Brien from "Are You Bogged Mate?" and guest speaker Shane Webke, the night struck a powerful balance between mateship and meaningful connection.
We were honoured to be recognised for this effort, with the 2024 Banana Shire Community Event of the Year Award.
Enhancing School Facilities
Beyond events, the P&C has been instrumental in improving the school infrastructure. In 2024, they funded the installation of electricity and lighting for the new multipurpose court, transforming it into a versatile space for sports, celebrations, and gatherings.
Ongoing Commitment
The P&C's dedication extends to regular events like the annual Melbourne Cup Calcutta Night, fostering community engagement and raising additional funds for the school. Their consistent efforts have not only enhanced educational experiences but also strengthened community connection.
